Imphal : Manipur BJP legislator Rajkumar Imo Singh has accused Lien Gangte, president of the Canada chapter of North American Manipur Tribal Association (NAMTA) for having links with Khalistani terror groups in Canada.
“It is now a well known fact that foreign terror groups are playing a very big role to create instability and prolong this conflict, which has been going on for the last five months,” Imo stated in his letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“There has been news report recently of the Canada Chapter Head of North American Manipur Tribal Association, Lien Gangte allegedly having links with terror groups in Canada who are trying to destroy the fundamentals of our country,” he said.
“He(Lien Gangte) had given a speech in the Gurudwara whose Chief and Khalistani Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead by unknown people. Gangte not only condemned what was happening in Manipur but also sought help from them by using the platform for the Separatist agenda,” Imo further stated.
The BJP legislator urged the Union Home Minister to take strong legal action against people involved in spreading terror in our country, and using international platforms to propagate the separatist agenda with the help of other terror groups.
“I am very positive that Home Ministry must have already started the investigation regarding these links…. I also urge you to take stringent measures against organisations abroad who are having such links and bringing a bad name to our country,” Imo stated in the letter.
In his letter, Imo also requested the Home Minister to ensure that the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram is fully fenced, which is similarly going to be done in Manipur to help in controlling more influx of illegal migrants across the region.
Meanwhile, Imo thanked the Centre’s decision of sending a CBI team to the state to probe the killing of two students and subsequent arrest of four persons allegedly involved in the murders.
