Shillong: The Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force and Eastern Command of the Indian Army will jointly conduct a multi domain air-land exercise codenamed – Poorvi Akash – in the challenging mountainous terrain in the Eastern Theatre from October 30 to November 5.
The exercise, aimed at testing the application of air power in all its roles, will be conducted both during the day and night.
“The Garuds, the Special Forces of the Indian Air Force, will participate in special missions along with the Special Forces of Indian Army in the challenging mountainous terrain. It will involve activation of the entire Eastern Sector,” Meghalaya-based Defence Spokesperson, Wing Commander Sreeprakash J said.
“Air Defence assets of Indian Army and Indian Air Force will also be deployed to simulate realistic battle scenarios. All major fleets of the Air Force will be participating in the exercise along with special mission aircraft,” he added.
