Umsaw : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday stressed on the need for better coordination between police forces of the North Eastern States and underlined the need for a joint action on drug trafficking and militancy, which is a spillover effect.
Addressing the passing out parade of the 52nd batch of the basic course of North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) here in Meghalaya, Sarma said, “If all the militant organisations in the Northeast can operate outside using a common strategy, it is becomes imperative for our police forces to bring an understanding between officers to work jointly creating a sense of camaraderie along the chain of command.”
“Hence, our police forces need to stay united, maintaining understanding amongst them. And also take support of a uniform policy enabling to work in coordination to fight against the militant organisations,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for smart policing, the Chief Minister appealed to the trainee officers to make use of the latest technologies in crime control and policing.
“I encourage the new young officers to develop the commonality they have built during their training, thereby strengthening this connection,” he told the newly trained police officers
He also urged the trainee officers to serve the members of the public, with special focus on children and women, with a sense of dedication and responsibility and to refrain from taking part in malpractices that have the potential to taint the uniform that they have earned.
Congratulating the trainee officers for successful completion of the training course, the Chief Minister exuded confidence the course module at NEPA would immensely be helpful to them in excelling professionally as part of the police force.
