Seppa: Ahead of the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections next year, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday urged the people to campaign for a fair election that is based on performance and not on which candidate can pay how much in cash or kind.
Addressing a BJP meeting at the Seppa General Ground here, Khandu said, “A leader who buys votes will never deliver. Let us unite in the fight against this malpractice to uphold the sanctity of democracy and thwart corruption.”
The Chief Minister along with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also laid the foundation for BJP district office to be constructed at Wessang.
Terming cash-for-vote as the biggest setback for good governance, Khandu asserted that the ‘ill’ needs to be down away with immediately.
Setting the tone for the ensuing general and assembly elections, Khandu urged the karyakartas of the district to create awareness on the various welfare schemes and projects of both the central and state governments so that the last person in the remotest village can know what the BJP government is doing for him.
Hailing BJP, the largest political party of the world, as the only party that can deliver, he said that BJP is the cleanest amongst all political parties.
“BJP is the only party that can boldly speak against money culture in elections. I urge you all to campaign for a fair election that is based on performance and not on which candidate can pay how much in cash or kind,” the BJP leader appealed.
