Assam Rifles troopers  attacked in Manipur, IED blast triggered

Imphal : Unidentified insurgents triggered an  improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting troopers of the Assam Rifles, who were on a routine patrolling at Narum Saibon area in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district along the India- Myanmar border on Thursday, an official said.
None of the troopers were injured in the blast, official said.
An Army official said the incident took place around 8:15 am when a patrol party of C-Coy of 20th Assam Rifles were ambushed by unidentified insurgents.
“The IED blast was followed by an ambush of the Casspir vehicle (mine-resistant and bullet proof troop carrier). The troopers retaliated with fire and no one was injured in the attack,” the official, who wished not to be quoted, said.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles has launched a manhunt to nab the unidentified insurgents.
