Imphal: The NIA has reported that Bangladesh and Myanmar-based terror groups are abetting the bloody ethnic clashes in Manipur.
The NIA, which is responsible for safeguarding the sovereignty of India, have found that in addition to Myanmar-based militant group, even a Bangladesh-based militant group is responsible for the ethnic clashes in Manipur.
A week after arresting a PLA militant, the NIA on Saturday arrested another insurgent leader and found that apart from Myanmar-based militant group, a Bangladesh-based militant group is also fomenting ethnic violence in Manipur.
“We have arrested Seiminlun Gangte in a case related to a trans-national conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh based terror outfits,” a spokesman of NIA said.
The case was registered suo-moto by the NIA on July 19 and Gangte has been brought to Delhi after his arrest, and is being interrogated at an undisclosed destination in the national capital.
On September 16, the NIA had arrested PLA leader Moirangthem Anand Singh along with four others from Konga near Meitei Mayek School in Imphal East for allegedly wearing a camouflage uniform and possession of sophisticated arms.
The NIA spokesperson added that the militant organizations based in Myanmar are recruiting workers to carry out attacks on security forces and members of opposing ethnic groups in Manipur.
“Investigation so far has revealed that the Myanmar based terrorist organisations are recruiting to carry out more attacks on the security forces and rival ethnic groups by exploiting current unrest in Manipur.
“The Myanmar-based leadership is collecting arms, ammunition and explosives by unlawful means, including plunder and pillage of government facilities and resources,” the NIA spokesperson said.
Both Myanmar and Bangladesh based militant groups have also been providing funds to a section of militant leaders in India to procure arms and ammunition and continue with the violence in Manipur, the NIA spokesperson claimed.
