Miscreants hurled grenade at Manipur minister’s house, CRPF trooper injured

Imphal :  Two motorcycle-borne miscreants lobbed a powerful grenade at the residence of Manipur Municipal Administration, Housing & Urban Development (MAHUD) minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in the heart of Imphal late Saturday night, police said.

A CRPF trooper who was posted at the minister’s residence sustained minor injuries from bomb splinters on his right hand, police said.

The grenade was lobbed by two motorcycle-borne miscreants at Khemchand’s house at in Yumnam Leikai, Singjamei, Imphal West district, amid tight security, police said.

The minister was at his residence with his family when the grenade exploded.

Khemchand said that he has not received any threats or demands.

Chief Minister N. Biren visited Khemchand’s residence and condemned the grenade attack.

Biren assured that the people behind the blast would soon be arrested.
