North East Express derail in Bihar : 6 killed, many injured, Meghalaya CM speaks to Railway Minister

Shillong:  The Meghalaya government is reaching out to the citizens of the state who are in need if anyone is stranded or affected by the derailment of the Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express train in Bihar’s Buxar district on Wednesday night.

Meghalaya minister and MDA government spokesperson, Ampareen Lyngdoh said  that the government has tried reaching out to any of the citizens of the state if any in view of the train mishap.
Lyngdoh said that the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had already communicated over X(twitter) that the State government is in touch with the railway officials at the exact location of the derailment of the train.

“So just in case people have not yet received that information, the helpline number has already been initiated,” Lyngdoh said.

The helpline number is 1800-345-3644 for the citizens of Meghalaya who may require assistance due to the derailment of the Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express in Bihar’s Buxar district.
“As of now, the list of the Railways ministry does not include any citizen of the state of Meghalaya or injured citizen of the state. However, in case there is anyone who happens to need any assistance from the government of Meghalaya, they may kindly call the helpline number or phone numbers provided by the government or search for the chief minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma’s tweet, besides all other numbers of transport officers, Guwahati Meghalaya house and other officers who have been placed on duty for this matter,” the Minister said.

She hoped that there would not be any such report of any casualties or injuries.

“We are still now seeking more information,” Lyngdoh added.

Besides activating the helpline number 1800-345-3644, the Meghalaya government informed that in case of emergency, the citizens can contact K. Thabah, Meghalaya House Guwahati – 7896167945, I. Kharmon, District Transport Officer, Ri-Bhoi District – 887003923, Richie Momin – 9615208771 and Hubert Nongbri – 7005627065 for coordination and redressal of issues.
