Meghalaya is all set for Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival

Shillong: The first day of the three-day Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, which was to have kick-started on Friday was literally washed out due to the inclement weather with the organisers expressing their apologises and regret.
The organisers informed that the Day-1 of the Cherry Blossom Festival had to be cancelled, as the weather posed “potential risk” to the festival-goers and organizers alike.
However, the organisers are ensuring that festival goers should not miss out on no performance, as most of the performances that were scheduled for day one got transferred and distributed accordingly on Day Two and Day Three.
This year the arrangements for the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival have been made at Madan Kurkalang, Bhoirymbong, Ri-Bhoi district and not in Meghalaya’s capital Shillong in order to avoid traffic congestion and related inconvenience to the public at large.
Meanwhile, the organisers assured the people who had booked their tickets for Day-1 need not worry as the tickets holders will be given free access to either Day 2 or Day 3.
“The ones who have booked their tickets for the entire season will get the refund for the payment they have made for Day 1. Thus, to ensure that the music loves do not miss out of the Day-1 of the musical extravaganza, the organizes are leaving no stones unturned,” the organisers said.
The unexpected drizzle turning into a non-stop rain led to this change. As per the official notification the organizers have asked all the festival goers and music lovers to stay tuned for further updates on the performances.
The organisers have requested the music lovers to visit the final two days of the festival and be a part of the beautiful confluence of nature, music and culture.
Meanwhile, there has been continuous rainfall and fog accompanied with gusty winds since the wee hours of Friday in the city and other parts of the state due to the influence of the cyclonic storm Midhili.
