Aizawl: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday released the party’s manifesto for the Mizoram elections, promising Mizoram Hmeichhiate Battalion, the state’s first all-women police battalion and 33 per cent reservation for women in all government jobs.
The BJP also promised to provide employment and self- employment opportunities to at least one member in every household if voted to power.
It promised to launch Mission Mizoram Edu Upgrade with a budget of Rs 250 crore to improve government schools and Rs. 350 crore to upgrade government colleges and universities.
To attract sportspersons and youths in the poll-bound state, the saffron party is committed to establish a Mizoram Sports Academy with scholarships for aspiring athletes in football, wrestling, weight lifting, and hockey.
“We will launch the Mizoram Olympic Mission to establish Mizoram as a leading sporting state. This is called inclusive growth and inclusive development,” Nadda added
The BJP also promised to constitute a a Special Investigation Team to probe all the irregularities and and corruption in the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Programme , a flagship programme initiated by the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF).
“We will release a white paper on fiscal mismanagement that occurred during the current administration. We will launch a dedicated anti-corruption helpline under the direct command of the Chief Minister,” the BJP president said.
The BJP’s manifesto also promised to introduce the ‘Mizoram Health Infrastructure Fund,’ with a substantial allocation of Rs. 500 crore, and ambitious plans to elevate Zoram Medical College into the esteemed status of a Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Rs. 950 crore to initiate the ‘Mizoram Rural Infrastructure Development Mission’ and Rs. 400 crore for ‘Mizoram Urban Infrastructure Development Mission’.
