Gangtok: Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday participated in the nationwide cleanliness drive “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath” programme under Swachhata Hi Seva initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Joined by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Governor Lakshman Prasasd Acharya participated in a rally, pledging to keep the state as well as the country clean.
The governor and the chief minister of Sikkim also cleaned the streets, picked up garbage, setting an example for the people to keep their state clean, while highlighting the values instilled by Mahatma Gandhi.
Governor Acharya joined the celebration and contributed to nationwide shramdaan for one hour at 3rd Mile JN Road in Sikkim.
School, college students, members from civil society, and people from various walks of life too participated in the cleanliness walk launched by the state governor led by Governor Acharya.
